Q: What does CISCOM stand for?

A: Certificate in Supply Chain & Operations Management

Q: Is CISCOM an accredited program?

A: Yes, CISCOM is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which is a globally recognized accreditation body.

Q: Is CISCOM a professional designation?

A: Yes, individuals having passed the CISCOM exam can use CISCOM with their name.

Q: Is CISCOM recognized globally?

A: Yes, CISCOM is a global program, attended by students from many countries.

Q: Who can benefit from the CISCOM program?

A: CISCOM training and designation is best suited for industry professionals working in a supply chain related function, and students in the under-graduate or graduate programs in Business, Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain Management and related subjects.

Q: How does CISCOM compare with other certificate programs in supply chain management?

A: CISCOM contains the following features, which are not offered by any other program of a similar nature:

  • a)  It is the only program on the subject accredited by ANSI.
  • b)  CISCOM includes computer-based simulations which is not offered by any other certification program.
  • c)  CISCOM curriculum is based on industry needs analysis, and in addition to a complete review of supply chain management, production and inventory management, distribution, warehousing and transport management, includes the major productivity improvement tools such as Lean, Sigma, Just-In-Time, Total Quality Management and Theory Of Constraints.
  • d)  There are many other features unique to CISCOM, such as use of spreadsheets for interactive solutions, instructors from trade and industry, etc., that make CISCOM a program of choice for the aspiring candidates.
  • e)  CISCOM course fee includes instructor-led training and exam, whereas most other program charge separate fees for these items, and the total is usually more than twice the CISCOM fee.

Q: What is the eligibility requirement for admission to CISCOM?

A: Minimum academic qualification is a bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma with two years work experience in a relevant field.

Q: How long is the course duration?

A: Total time commitment is 50 hours, which comprises 39 hours of instructor-led sessions, eight hours of self-study and three hours of the exam. The course is presented in three hour sessions once a week, therefore, the total course is completed in 13 weeks, followed by the exam.

Q: Will I get printed materials when I register for the course?

A: You will have access to the downloadable course materials online. These include the four volumes of the Participant Handbook. The handbooks are preset for printing, at home, or at a printer’s. A majority of our students prefer online materials. Also, due to the fact that our students are located in different countries, the mailing cost for printed material varies vastly, especially the handbooks, which weigh about 5 kgs (11 lbs). For these reasons, and to be fair to everyone, the cost of the handbooks is not included in the course fee. If you like, you can order the printed handbooks at a nominal cost of USD 175.00 for the four modules, plus the actual shipping cost.

Q: How is the exam conducted?

A: CISCOM Exam is conducted online and is proctored via web cam.

Q: How many questions are in the exam, how much time is allowed and what is the passing score?

A: CISCOM exam consists of 120 multiple choice questions, time allowed is three hours and the passing score is 70%.

Q: What if someone does not pass the exam?

A: A retake is offered at no additional cost, in case of an unsuccessful first attempt.

Q: Is any discount offered on course fee?

A: Depending on availability of funds, a scholarship or subsidy may be offered from time to time. Please use the Contact Us form to find out about available discounts.

Q: Do you offer other methods to pay the fee, besides paying in US Dollars on the BRASI web site?

A: Besides using a credit card or PayPal account on the BRASI web site to pay the fee,  you can also use a check or wire transfer, with prior information to the Registrar, so that the amount can be credited to the respective student’s account. Additionally, BRASI offers the option to pay the fee in local currency at a bank within certain countries. Please use the Contact Us form to check if such a facility is available at your location.

Q: What happens if I want to cancel my registration after paying the fee?

A: Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • a)  If registration is cancelled before start of the course, the course fee is refunded in full.
  • b)  For cancellation after start of the course and before the exam, 50% of the fee is refunded.
  • c)  No refund is allowed after exam date, regardless of whether the exam is taken or not.

Q: Is my information safe with BRASI?

A: BRASI does not share its stake holders’ information with any external organization, except for tax or other regulatory purposes. BRASI uses secure channels for payments and communication. Complete details are contained in the Policies and Procedures available on BRASI web site www.brasi.org.
